Counterculture is, for many people a novel idea and has a very wide connotation. For years, however, Sociologists have been studying the ‘counterculture’ or the ‘contraculture’. The term ‘counterculture’ proves to be inaccurate because its prominence in society is triggered by events and social conditions that affect all of American society making it therefore a part of American culture.
